Oberon Library & Community Centre | Permanent Part-Time (24 hours per week)

Oberon Council is looking for a friendly, capable and community-minded Library Assistant to join our Library team and help deliver engaging programs, exceptional customer service, and meaningful community outreach initiatives.

About the role

As a Library Assistant, you will support the delivery of library programs, events, and customer services that encourage lifelong learning, literacy, creativity, and community connection. You will work collaboratively with library staff, schools, community groups, and local organisations to provide inclusive and welcoming services for our community.

  • Permanent part-time position – 24 hours per week (Wednesday to Saturday)
  • $33.05 – $38.34 per hour

  • Deliver library programs and events
  • Support community engagement and outreach
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Promote literacy, learning, and digital Inclusion
  • Coordinate program and event administration
  • Contribute to marketing and communications
  • Support daily library operations

Selection Criteria

Essential

  • Demonstrated customer service skills with the ability to provide welcoming, responsive, and high-quality service to a diverse range of library users, creating positive and memorable customer experiences.
  • Experience assisting with library programs, events, community activities, or customer engagement initiatives.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively with people from diverse backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team
  • Current Working with Children Check or willingness to obtain
  • Current C class

Desirable

  • Certificate IV in Library and Information Services or a related qualification.
  • Previous experience working in a public library environment, including circulation, shelving, collection maintenance, and customer enquiries
